Deb has been working with H.U.G.S. since 2009 and co-facilitated the groups for over 10 years. Deb was led to this work having lost her dad to suicide in 1975. At Alice’s encouragement, Deb went back to school and earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.

Deb is now in private practice with Clear Skies Grief and Trauma Therapy in Southport, North Carolina.  The cornerstone for Deb's practice is the 'Rewind Technique'. The 'Rewind Technique' is a non-intrusive guided imagery technique for processing traumatic memories, also sometimes referred to as the 'visual-kinesthetic dissociation technique'.  

Deb is also a hospice bereavement counselor for Novant Health in Charlotte virtually companioning individuals through their loss journey.

Deb received her Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider designation from the MISS Foundation and a Soul Injury Ambassador designation awarded through Opus Peace.
